What's a Rebus?
The basis of the Greater Mystic Online Challenge is an exciting variation of a word puzzle called a rebus. Wikipedia defines a rebus as "a kind of word puzzle which uses pictures to represent words or parts of words." In the United States, rebuses were popularized by the television show Concentration which aired from 1958 to 1973. Rebus puzzles have also appeared as brain teasers on the inside of bottle tops and other product packaging.
Below is a sample Rebus. In our Online Challenge, the rebus will pose a question dealing with the Greater Mystic region and the answer to that is what we're looking for. To view the solution to this sample rebus, scroll to the bottom of this page.
